Buy bitcoin in retail stores in Turkey with bitupcard

— Your voucher will be printed within seconds at one of the participating stores

We are proud to announce the launch of Bitupcard - the first solution for you to buy bitcoin in retail stores in Turkey!

MK Payment and bit4coin jointly launch Bitupcard, an eVoucher that enables customers to purchase bitcoin at retail stores in Turkey. The pilot program starts with 30 participating locations in Istanbul and all major regions. Roll-out to up to 5,000 retail locations in Turkey is already planned.

“One of the most difficult problems in Bitcoin is still how to get them”, says Dolf Diederichsen, Founder and CEO of bit4coin in Amsterdam. “Enabling Turkish consumers to buy bitcoins in stores provides a simple, convenient and trustworthy solution.”

Customers can enter any participating store and buy a Bitupcard eVoucher, similar to buying prepaid mobile top-up credit. After selecting a value between 50–500 TL (~20–200 US$), customers receive a paper receipt with a voucher code. To redeem the code and receive bitcoin, customers type in the code at bitupcard.com together with their bitcoin wallet address. Participating locations can be found using the store locator at bitupcard.com. With only 6% fee, Bitupcard is a very competitive and compelling option to buy bitcoin in Turkey.

To create the product, MK Payment and bit4coin join their competencies: MK Payment has deep knowledge in prepaid solutions, and access to a vast retail distribution network. bit4coin brings expertise in Bitcoin, as well as a platform to administer bitcoin gift cards and voucher codes.

“With Bitupcard, MK Payment and bit4coin are able to deliver a great product that will allow even consumers with little prior experience to buy their first bitcoins”, says Ibrahim Tarlig, CEO of MK Payment.

Both companies have plans to expand Bitupcard to additional markets beyond Turkey, making bitcoin more accessible for customers around the globe.
