Bitcoin Hard Fork - bit4coin's position
In case you have not heard about in the news, the Bitcoin network may split ("User Activated Hard Fork, UAHF") into two systems, "Bitcoin" and "Bitcoin Cash", on 1 August or later. You can learn more about it in this article on CoinDesk.
bit4coin will not support Bitcoin Cash, and only offer coins from the main Bitcoin network. If you redeem your bit4coin voucher before the Hard Fork activates, you will potentially own the main Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. You will need to check with your wallet provider if and how you can access your Bitcoin Cash if you wish to do so. If you redeem your bit4coin vouchers after the Hard Fork, you will only receive the coins from the main Bitcoin chain.
In any case we guarantee that your voucher value will remain stable in Euros, e.g., a €100 bit4coin voucher will always get you €100 at the time you redeem. As we do not hold any Bitcoin for or on behalf of customers, there is no addtional action required offer Bitcoin Cash.
To minimise any potential disruption to our users from wildly fluctating prices or uncertainty caused by the hard fork, we temporarily suspend all redemptions from Aug 1, 1:00AM Amsterdam time until the situation has been stabilised.
Please note that if you want to own Bitcoin Cash (BCC), you will need to redeem your vouchers before we suspend redemptions, and make sure your wallet provider allows you to extract BCC from your wallet. We will work hard to get everything back and running as quickly as possible.
